If you are a fan of all things vintage, you are in for a treat! A new exhibit, “Weddings Remembered”, features bridal fashions and accessories from 1787 to the 1950’s and is now on display at the Packwood House Museum. The items exhibited are from the collection of the Packwood House Museum, as well as The Thomas T. Taber Museum of Williamsport, Slifer House Museum and Wilson Ross. This is a wonderful collection for the romantic in all of us. The Packwood House is just across the street from us so it could not be more convenient.
Lewisburg has wonderful architecture and many people enjoy taking a walking tour of the town, most of which has been maintained as once it was. There are also state parks for hiking, bike trails, canoeing on the Susquehanna and shopping in our quaint downtown stores.
If that’s not enough, Lewisburg hosts Concerts in the Park every Wednesday evening which is a fun way to wind down the day after a lovely meal at one of our fabulous local restaurants, From great American cuisine to sushi and guacamole made at your table, (and lots of other choices), Lewisburg has much to offer.
Come stay with us and visit, relax, eat, listen and just enjoy the sights and sounds in and around Lewisburg.
When I get a spare moment, you may find me exploring one of the many antique venues in the Lewisburg area. I tell Bill, “I just need to get out of the inn for a bit”, which is really my code for “I need an antique fix.”
We are blessed with a variety of shops that house treasures of all kinds, from furniture and pottery to toys, jewelry, china, primitive housewares and everything in-between. Some shops are more extensive than others covering several floors of merchandise while others are small and quaint.
I don’t collect any one thing but enjoy the search for things that enhance a wall or corner of our b & b and give it a fresh look. New items are added at all venues on a frequent basis so its always fun to browse.
A few of my favorite haunts are, Antiques at 221 (which is just steps away from the inn) focusing on estate jewelry, fine watchers and furniture. They are also the VERY BEST place in the area to get jewelry repaired-hands down!
Roller Mills Antique Mall is located at 517 St. Mary St., here in Lewisburg. You could spend a very long time looking at all three floors of merchandise. A great variety here.
Walnut Dell Antiques, just outside of Milton, PA just off I-80 at Exit 15. The owner has a creative way of displaying and grouping items. A lovely shop with two floors of goodies.
A recent find was the Bucknell cheerleading print which was done by F. Earl Christy who was known for his All-American girl illustrations, many on postcards. He was trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and this one was probably done in the early 1900’s.
